  5. The DiskImageCMPlugin is a System Software 8.1 Contextual menu addition that will mount disk images from a contextual menu. It will optionally verify the checksum of the image. It does not require the Disk Copy application to be present.

  7. This Read Me will explain the basic functions of the DiskImageCMPlugin.

  9. System requirements

  11. The DiskImageCMPlugin requires System Software 8.1 and a PowerPC Mac OS compatible computer. As with any Contextual Menu plugin, SOMobjects™ for Mac OS is also required.

  13. Disk Image Formats

  15. The DiskImageCMPlugin can mount all three types of NDIF (New Disk Image Format) disk images (Read/Write, Read-Only, and Read-Only Compressed), Disk Copy 4.2 disk images, as well as read DART and other disk image formats. The DiskImageCMPlugin also supports segmented disk images.

  17. Mounting disk images

  19. • Select one or more disk images and control-click. If a read-only or read-only compressed disk image is selected, two menu items will appear, "Quick Mount" and "Mount". Quick Mount will mount the selected disk images without performing a checksum verification. Mount will verify the checksums of the selected disk images, and mount them if the checksum verification was successful. If a read-write disk image is selected, only the Quick Mount menu item will appear.

  21. You can now work with the mounted volume as you would any regular volume. To unmount it, either drag the disk volume icon to the Trash or select the icon and use the “Put Away” command from the File menu. When you restart you computer, any mounted disk images will be unmounted.
